Welcome to the Specialist Music Programme at Burnside High School! My connection with this place started in 2010 when I began teaching here, also tutoring the SMP Brass class for a number of years. It is a truly unique and special place to be, for staff and students alike, and the Specialist Music Programme lies at the very heart of the constant drive for excellence that defines the Music Department and the school as a whole.
If you are passionate about music, and have the perseverance and dedication required to excel, then this is the place for you. The opportunities here are endless and at the highest level and, as an SMP student, you are ideally placed to benefit from the very best of these; Orchestral, Jazz, Choral, Chamber and Contemporary Music performing opportunities are all represented in various forms within our curriculum and co-curricular programme at every year level.
