Westburn SMP Application Form

Auditions for the 2026 Westburn SMP class will be held on the 7th October 2025. Parents will be advised whether their child has been successful by Friday 10th October 2025. Successful applicants will be offered a place at Westburn and into the SMP programme. Note: Your child does not have to live in Westburn’s enrolment zone when applying. A place will be offered if your child is successful.

Application process

  1. Parents and children decide to apply for Westburn SMP 2026 class.
  2. The application form on the SMP website must be completed and forwarded by 3 pm on Wednesday, 1st October 2025 to: [email protected]
  3. Parents are advised of an audition time on 7th October 2025.
  4. Parents are advised of their child’s success in the audition by 10th October 2025.
  5. Enrolment at Westburn Te Kura o Hereora for 2026:

a. Successful applicants who live in Westburn’s zone will be pre-enrolled prior to the end of the year;

b. Successful applicants who live outside Westburn’s zone will need to apply for the out-of-zone ballot for 2025 by 15th October 2025. This process is a formality but must be completed by this date.

All applicants are required to perform one piece, undertake sight reading/singing, aural tests, and interview. Successful applicants will endeavor to maintain an appropriate level of achievement, will continue lessons in their chosen instrument, and perform at school events. The cost for instrumental tuition is met entirely by parents. SMP students are expected to be fully involved in the music life of the school including membership of relevant ensembles. SMP students will be positive role models, and fully support the ethos and values of Westburn School. SMP students’ performance may be reviewed annually in terms of progress and participation in the musical life of the School.
